Antibiotics Causing Painful Stomach Problems? Try This.

Dear Living Well Daily Readers,

Are you one of those folks who gets stomach problems every time you take an antibiotic?

If so, you’re not alone.

Whether it’s stomachaches, nausea, gas, or diarrhea dealing with painful stomach issues can make you feel even more sick as you’re trying to get better!

Now, scientists are getting closer to understanding why these reactions might be happening… as well as an easy way to prevent them.

Many readers think I’m against antibiotics… but that’s not the whole truth.

I think antibiotics are one of the best gifts we were ever given: they save lives!

The problem is mainstream doctors use antibiotics too much.

A patient comes in with a virus and the doctor hands them antibiotics, even if they aren’t that sick. Or perhaps, in a different case, the doctor has no idea what to do for a patient, yet he still prescribes an antibiotic.

But what happens if your stomach suffers when you take them?

A new study in the journal iScience found that a certain beneficial gut bacterium called Ruminococcaceae is especially sensitive to the antibiotic amoxicillin-clavulanate, a very common prescription used to treat pneumonia and urinary tract infections.

As it turns out, people in the study who had diarrhea after taking amoxicillin-clavulanate also had much lower levels of the bacteria Ruminococcaceae because it had been destroyed by the antibiotic.

While you can search for a probiotic that contains Ruminococcaceae, that may not be necessary.

All the bacteria in your gut (and there are a lot) work together. Taking a good quality probiotic may help to restore Ruminococcaceae without ever taking those specific bacteria…

All while alleviating your stomach pain symptoms, too!

The key here is to make sure that every time you have to take an antibiotic, you make sure you are also taking a good quality probiotic.

P.S. If you suffer from chronic stomach issues like irritable bowel syndrome, you need to see this.
