WARNING: Heart Disease and Diabetes Popping Up Post COVID-19

Dear Living Well Daily Reader,

A recent report by insurance companies is raising some alarm bells.

The disturbing conclusion is death rates are sharply rising.

More people have died in the last few years than expected… a LOT MORE. And the troubling trend shows no clear signs of slowing down.

Most puzzling of all? These deaths aren’t being caused by COVID-19 infections…

Or are they?

It turns out COVID-19 is the “gift” that keeps on giving. Because even once you’ve recovered from the infection, this virus can leave a lasting legacy.

A new study published in the journal PLOS Medicine, found that having COVID-19 dramatically increases your risk of being diagnosed with heart disease or diabetes in the three months following the infection.

The researchers looked closely at the data from 428,000 people who had COVID-19 and matched them to the same number of similar folks who hadn’t gotten the infection. Those who had COVID were 81 percent more likely to be diagnosed with diabetes in the first four weeks after having the virus.

And the bad news doesn’t end there.

Even if they managed to make it through those first four weeks, their risk remained elevated by 27 percent for up to 12 weeks after the infection.

But I’m afraid the news continues to get worse. A COVID-19 infection was also associated with a SIX-TIMES increase in heart disease.

Scientists are still working out exactly why this is happening. But we already know COVID-19 can raise body-wide inflammation for months after all signs of the infection are gone.

That inflammation can wreak havoc throughout your body, damaging heart health and ruining blood sugar control.

The good news is the elevated risk of heart disease and diabetes dropped after about 12 weeks.

If you’ve recently recovered from COVID-19, you should follow a low-inflammation lifestyle for the next few months. Better yet, just stick with it permanently.

Inflammation is at the root of countless diseases you could face during your lifetime. And a low inflammation lifestyle can help you avoid them.

Let me show you how.

Dr. Scott’s Inflammation-Be-Gone program:

  • There are several powerful natural anti-inflammatories that you can take. These include fish oil, curcumin, and Boswellia, among others.
  • Exercise is a great way to keep inflammation in check. Exercise causes inflammation to increase for about an hour after your workout. But it then quickly plummets to very low levels leading to an overall decrease in inflammation.
  • Avoid ultra-processed foods, added sugars, and vegetable oils, all of which can send inflammation soaring.
  • Eat more vegetables which naturally calm inflammation.
  • Your immune system controls inflammation and is closely tied to the health of your digestive tract. Make sure you’re getting enough healthy bacteria by taking a probiotic
