The “Lazy Man’s Secret” to Super-Aging

Dear Living Well Daily Reader,

Most folks I treat are desperately trying to remain happy and healthy for as long as possible.

And pursuing that goal drives many of my senior patients to feel like they have to keep going to extremes as they age.

These age-fighting folks end up exercising like fiends… watching everything they eat like hawks… and keeping up with the latest health trends at all costs.

But I tell them to slow down and relax a little. It DOESN’T have to be that hard.

In fact, there’s a far EASIER way to live a longer, healthier life.

Because when you make sure you’re getting enough of THIS specific nutrient in your diet, you can dial back your efforts and STILL be set. I like to call it the “lazy man’s secret to super-aging.”

I’m talking about taurine.

When people think about free radicals and taking antioxidants to combat them, they typically focus on nutrients like vitamin C and A. But other molecules in your body work as antioxidants too.

And taurine is one of the best.

If you’ve never heard of taurine, you’re not alone. Despite it being a common amino acid (a building block of protein), most people haven’t.

But now, a new study published in the journal Nutrition might change that. The research confirms that taurine could be a powerful secret weapon for fighting free radicals in the body.

The scientists divided 24 women between 55 and 70 into two groups. One group took three 500-milligram capsules of taurine daily for 16 weeks, while the other took a placebo.

The researchers then analyzed oxidative stress markers in blood samples taken from the participants. And the surprised scientists found a nearly 20 percent increase of the antioxidant enzyme called superoxide dismutase (SOD) in the group taking taurine.

And remember, the MORE antioxidants there are in your body, the less age-accelerating free radicals form.

Preventing the buildup of free radicals is a big deal. When you suppress these damaging molecules from forming in the first place, you can reduce your risks for many age-related chronic conditions, including…

  • heart disease
  • diabetes
  • high blood pressure

But taurine isn’t only a potent antioxidant. Maintaining healthy levels of this amino acid is also vital for the health of your central nervous and immune systems, as well as healthy eyesight, fertility, electrolyte balance, mineral regulation, and more.

Lucky for us taurine is found in many foods, including fish, shellfish, chicken, turkey, dairy, and beef. Plus, it’s available as a supplement.

The bottom line? Be sure to get plenty of this “super-aging” amino acid. And then relax and REALLY enjoy your senior years.

P.S. Chances are something is hiding in plain sight in your pantry RIGHT NOW that’s putting you on the fast track to aging. I reveal the culprit and how to combat it right here.
