SLASH Dementia Risk with 3 Simple Moves

They say aging isn’t for sissies, and I have to agree.

You lose hair where you want it. Grow it where you don’t. And EVERYTHING starts to sag.

And then there’s the slowness. It’s something nearly everyone of a certain age complains about eventually.

Your body moves slower. Your bowels move slower. Even your brain becomes a victim of the slowdown too.

When you notice the lag, you may worry that you’re losing your marbles. And the truth is, if you don’t start caring for your brain, you might eventually.

But don’t worry. Despite what you may have heard, you don’t have to spend hours on end at the gym and only eat lettuce to dial down your dementia risk.

Maintaining good body and brain health WILL take some effort on your part. It’s not a totally free ride.

But you DON’T have to be a marathon-running spinach-eating super athlete to substantially reduce your dementia risk.

New research published in the journal American Academy of Neurology reveals exactly how

The huge study compiled data from 501,376 people gathered over eleven years. And the researchers discovered that three simple activities led to significantly lower risks of developing dementia.

  • exercising frequently was linked to a 35 percent lower risk of dementia
  • regularly doing household chores led to a 21 percent lower risk
  • visiting family and friends often was associated with a 15 percent lower risk

In other words, no more sitting parked in front of the TV for hours on end. To maintain your brain power, drop the couch potato routine and keep your body AND mind engaged.

Exercise doesn’t need to be complicated or super strenuous to be effective, either. Simply taking a brisk walk around the neighborhood or walking up and down the stairs a few times will do the trick.

And while I’ll be the first to admit I don’t love doing household chores, I get them done anyway.

For example, as I’m writing this article, a stack of dishes is sitting in the sink. So I’ll alternate between my desk work and loading the dishwasher. In the end, it will make my wife AND my brain happy at the same time.

You can look for similar opportunities to fight off dementia throughout your own day. Tackle a quick chore, slip in a short walk, or meet up with a friend to chat over a cup of coffee.

P.S. Want even MORE protection against dementia? This “fall fruit” could be the answer. Scientists say it’s linked to significant improvements in memory. Click here for the details.
