COVID Hospitalizations PLUNGE with this “MOVE”

Remember when they said we’d just need to hunker down at home for a few weeks, and this whole COVID-19 thing would blow over?

It’s safe to say they got that one wrong.

In fact, it’s looking like COVID-19 is less of a visitor and more of a permanent house guest these days.

That means the virus will likely eventually be like the flu. Some years we’ll have bad COVID seasons, and others, we’ll get off easier.

But keep in mind that doesn’t mean COVID isn’t dangerous.

Heck, even the flu itself still packs a punch. Approximately 36,000 people die every year from the flu.

Your best defense against illnesses like these is to stay as healthy as you can in the first place. Because when you’re run down or compromised by less than stellar health, you’re vulnerable to even worse illness.

But scientists say this ONE move could be the key to staying out of the hospital if you get hit with COVID.

You know the drill by now: eat well (ditch the sugar and ultra-processed foods), get enough sleep, take steps to ease your stress, wear a good-quality mask in crowds, and wash your hands frequently.

But that’s not ALL you can do. There’s one more powerful step you can take to help shore up your body’s defenses against invaders.

Make sure you get enough exercise. Because scientists say, it could play a surprisingly important role in keeping us healthy when the next COVID wave hits.

In fact, a study published in the British Journal of Sports Medicine found that exercise boosted the effectiveness of the COVID-19 vaccine. Plus, the MORE folks moved, the better the outcome.

  • Being vaccinated alone lowered the risk of hospital admission by an impressive 60 percent.
  • But vaccinated folks who maintained a “medium activity level” had an incredible 72 percent lower risk.
  • And hospital admissions were down by a stunning 86 percent in the “high activity level” group.

So what does that mean in the real world?

Well, the moderate-activity group included those who engaged in at least 60 to 149 minutes of moderate-intensity physical exercise each week. While the high-activity group included those who did at least 150 minutes.

Let me do the math on that for you. To be considered a member of the moderate activity group, you’d need to do 9-21 minutes a day of whatever exercise you like. Do any MORE than that, and you’re in the high-activity club.

Think about that. If you’re vaccinated, exercising for nine minutes a day could reduce your risk of heading to the hospital with COVID by 72 percent. That’s the very definition of a no-brainer.

You can walk, ride a bike, swim, play pickleball, garden… the possibilities are endless. Just be consistent about doing it daily.
