HIDDEN Depression Trigger (Beware!)

There are plenty of reasons to feel sad these days.

The global pandemic, violence, natural disasters, and divisive politics top the list.

And we certainly HAVE seen an uptick in the number of people dealing with depression lately.

But what if there was something else going on?

What if your depression had NOTHING to do with the outside world. What if it was being driven from the INSIDE instead?

If you’re battling depression and assume it’s the state of the world making you feel this way, don’t be so sure.

It turns out your mental distress could be driven by a HORMONE.

And it’s likely NOT the one you’re thinking of.

I’m talking about insulin, the hormone that helps control blood sugar.

Studies show that up to 90 percent of Americans have some form of insulin resistance. That means their cells don’t respond well to insulin and can’t easily take up glucose from their blood.

Recent research has revealed that high insulin levels…

  • block dopamine, a “feel-good” chemical that’s released in the brain and helps nerve cells communicate
  • cause brain mitochondria (the powerhouse of the cell) to fail

This loss of chemicals that literally make you feel GOOD, along with the drop in energy levels, is like a recipe for low mood and depression.

But the good news is you CAN reverse insulin resistance and perhaps ditch depression at the same time.

Following are six natural ways to improve your insulin sensitivity.

  • Reduce carbs. High-carb diets produce blood sugar spikes that stress the pancreas.
  • Eat more fiber. Research has linked increased fiber intake to decreased insulin resistance.
  • Get better sleep. Studies show poor sleep reduces insulin sensitivity.
  • Dial down stress. Stress hormones like cortisol and glucagon increase insulin resistance.
  • Exercise more. Exercise leads to an immediate jump in insulin sensitivity.
  • Lose weight. Excess weight reduces insulin sensitivity, and dropping a few pounds can help.

We may be unable to do much to change the things in the world that make us sad. But tackling insulin resistance could be the key to ditching depression once and for all.

P.S. Researchers recently uncovered something downright disturbing about foods countless folks eat daily. It turns out a lot of processed or prepared foods contain an additive that scientists say could GIVE you diabetes. HERE is everything you need to know.
