MAILBAG: Ease Prostate Problems NATURALLY

Are there any natural solutions for an enlarged prostate?

-Mike from Summerville, South Carolina

Hi Mike,

There are many things you can do to improve your prostate health.

Eating better is the first step. This means loading up on nutritious foods, including plenty of fresh organic vegetables and lean meats. (And yes, that DOES mean delicious red meat can stay on the menu.)

Red meat contains essential vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants your body needs. That includes plenty of prostate-friendly zinc and selenium. Make it grass-fed to get even MORE of those essential nutrients, including prostate-protecting vitamin E.

The lycopene in tomatoes makes them particularly beneficial for the prostate. This carotenoid is found in large concentrations in prostate tissues.

  • Lycopene inhibits the growth of human prostate cancer cells in lab experiments.
  • Regularly eating lycopene-rich foods is linked to a 30 to 40 percent lower risk of prostate cancer.
  • Lycopene can fight the symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) or an enlarged prostate.

Avoid eating too many processed foods, which are associated with a higher risk of prostate cancer. And cut cancer-linked added sugars like the kind you find in soft drinks from your diet.

Drinking sugar-sweetened beverages is associated with a 21 percent increase in prostate cancer risk for men who consume the most.

Zinc is an important nutrient for prostate health. The mineral boosts immune response, which offers some protection against prostate disease. And zinc’s ability to fight inflammation could help reduce swelling of the gland.

You can increase zinc levels by eating more beef, pumpkin seeds, and spinach. But to make sure you’re getting enough, I typically recommend taking a zinc supplement.

Curcumin, an extract of the herb turmeric, is a natural inflammation fighter. Research reveals that curcumin may weaken tumor cell production and stop cancer-linked fibroblasts (connective tissue cells) from forming. You can sprinkle turmeric on your food or take a curcumin supplement.

Medicinal mushrooms such as reishi, Coriolus versicolor (Turkey Tail), and maitake are great for prostate health. Lab studies have found mushrooms have the potential to prevent prostate cancer.

A large study found that men who regularly ate shitake, maitake, and turkey tail mushrooms had a 17 percent lower risk for prostate cancer.

You can reduce overall inflammation by taking omega-3-rich fish oil. Plus, research has revealed that HIGHER omega-3 fatty acid intake is linked to a LOWER incidence of prostate cancer.

P.S. Researchers have uncovered a shocking prostate cancer trigger. But once you know what it is, the power is in YOUR hands to stay cancer free. CLICK HERE for the whole scoop.
