"Safe" Sweetener Puts You in HARMS Way

Scientists have insisted for years that artificial sweeteners are chemically inert. They said these Franken-sugars pass through your body unaltered, changing nothing along the way.

But now those SAME scientists are being forced to eat crow… over and over again.

A growing body of research confirms that fake sugars DO have adverse health effects after all. (DUH!)

They can alter our microbiomes in ways that raise our risks for diabetes and weight gain. And, using fake sugars has been linked to all sorts of ailments, such as migraines, fatigue, and even cancer.

Now, new research has revealed yet another potential side effect for the popular sweetener erythritol. And this one is a real DOOZY.

Fake Sugars Can Do A Lot of Harm

I’ve studied the damage sugar does to our bodies for over 20 years. Despite that, I always tell my patients that it’s STILL better to eat natural sugar than to put artificial sweeteners into their bodies.

Sure, they taste like sugar. But that’s where the similarities END. Because fake sugars aren’t chemical molecules your body can properly handle. And as a result, they can do a lot of harm.

Case in point: erythritol. It’s typically labeled as a “natural sugar.” But that’s more than a little misleading.

It’s true erythritol is a naturally occurring sugar alcohol found in many fruits and vegetables. And in that natural state and concentration, it’s obviously fine.

But the erythritol they dump into processed foods and offer in bags to sweeten foods at home is made by fermenting corn. And it’s HUGELY concentrated.

In nature, erythritol is only found in tiny amounts. But eat just one processed food sweetened with it, and you could easily consume 1,000-fold MORE erythritol than is found naturally in ANY food.

Erythritol Sent Heart Risks Rising

And now a new study published in the journal Nature Medicine has revealed a potential consequence. Researchers say they’ve uncovered a link between erythritol and an increased heart attack and stroke risk.

Erythritol levels were measured in a group of 1,157 volunteers. It turns out folks with the highest amounts in their blood had a DOUBLED risk of dying from OR having a major cardiovascular event over the following three years.

This was an observational study rather than a cause-and-effect one. So more research will be needed.

But this ISN’T the only group the link was seen in. The same elevated heart risk appeared in two other studied groups.

The researchers wanted to know WHY erythritol might make people more likely to have a heart attack or stroke. So the scientists recruited a small group of healthy volunteers and had them down an erythritol-sweetened drink.

Erythritol levels remained high for two to three days after consuming the drink. Then when they mixed blood samples with the sweetener, they found it made the blood STICKIER.

And it should go without saying that NOBODY needs sticky blood. And that obviously could send your risk for blood clots, heart attack, and stroke climbing.

P.S. We’ve just scratched the surface when it comes to the dangers posed by artificial sweeteners. Another recent study focused on some of the damage these creepy chemicals do to your body. And the findings may shock you. CLICK HERE for the truth.
