"Bright Idea" REDUCES Breast Cancer Risk
Dear Living Well Daily Reader,
When it comes to breast cancer, there are a lot of risk factors you can’t change.
Growing older, having dense breast tissue, family history, and genetics all come to mind.
But if you’re a “DOER” and want to do something to dial down your 1 in 8 chance of developing this disease, I’ve got good news.
There ARE some things you can do to slash your breast cancer risk, like keeping up with regular exercise and limiting your alcohol use.
But there’s one risk-reducing “bright idea” that takes nearly zero effort, is proven effective, and is downright pleasant.
Want to reduce your breast cancer risk? Simply step outside.
As unlikely as that sounds, it’s true. Because according to a recent study published in the journal Cancer Epidemiology Biomarkers & Prevention, getting MORE sun exposure is linked to a LOWER risk of developing breast cancer.
That’s right. The thing the mainstream has spent so much time scaring you into avoiding … the SUN… could literally save your life.
Researchers uncovered this ironic link when they compared two groups of ladies.
- Women living in Buffalo, the 3rd gloomiest city in the USA (at 208 cloudy days yearly)
- Women living in Puerto Rico, which has sunshine most days of the year
There were significantly fewer cases of breast cancer in the women with the highest accumulated sun exposure (regardless of skin pigmentation).
Now this wasn’t a cause-and-effect type study, of course. But the link between fewer cases of breast cancer and more sun held up when the researchers dug deeper and compared estrogen receptor status.
The likely reason why boils down to inflammation.
You see, when sunshine hits your skin, vitamin D is created. And vitamin D is a potent anti-inflammatory.
Sun exposure is proven to reverse inflammation, reduce the risk of obesity, and help regulate the circadian rhythm (your internal clock), which can improve sleep and mood.
So if you’re lucky enough to live someplace with plenty of sunny days, head outside to get at least 20 minutes of sunshine daily.
If gray weather or mobility keeps you inside, consider investing in a lamp that mimics sunshine. You can find them for less than $30 on Amazon.com.
P.S. Reduce your cancer risk even more with THIS morning routine.
