Love Water? Read This BEFORE Drinking Another Drop

I wish all the Mom’s out there a Happy Mother’s Day!

Today I want to tell you a little story that involves some potential moms. And like all good stories, this one has an evil villain at the center of the tale.

The head of a major corporation recently said the fear around forever chemicals “lacks a sound scientific basis.”

Fair enough. I suppose he’s entitled to his (clearly misinformed) opinion.

But wait… That SAME corporation ALSO pulled women off their OWN production lines in the 1980s because of those very same chemicals’ links to birth defects.

Now I don’t know about you, but that “do as I say, not as I do” behavior makes me think a company may be more concerned about its bottom line than the public’s health.

Let’s take a look at the details.

The company, 3M, is a major producer of PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl compounds).

PFAS are chemicals used in manufacturing a wide variety of commercial and household items. For example, non-stick cookware, waterproof clothes, and food packaging use PFAS because these chemicals resist water, oil, and stains.

In fact, the chemical bonds in PFAS are so strong they don’t biodegrade. That’s how they earned the nickname “forever chemicals.”

PFAS are obviously very useful and versatile. The trouble is, they’re ALSO harmful. They mimic fatty acids in our bodies. Which scientists say means they can affect our biology.

PFAS are endocrine-disrupting chemicals (EDRs). Which means they can interfere with hormone production. So it’s not surprising that studies link them to high cholesterol, thyroid disease, diabetes, cancer, and more.

And we’re ALL at risk.

In fact, if I were to draw your blood right now, there’s little doubt that I’d find PFAS in it. Because according to the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey, forever chemicals are in the blood of 98 percent of Americans.

You see, we’re constantly exposed to them in the clothes we wear, the furniture we sit on, and even the packaged processed foods we eat.

These creepy chemicals are lurking in our drinking water supplies in the United States. And there’s even evidence they’re in the AIR that we breathe.

You’ve probably figured out by now that there’s no way to completely avoid PFAS. But the good news is the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is FINALLY acknowledging the dangers of PFAS in our drinking water.

The agency admitted that restricting these pollutants in drinking water would “prevent thousands of deaths and prevent tens of thousands of serious PFAS-related illnesses.”

I wouldn’t hold my breath waiting for the EPA to turn that acknowledgment into action. So in the meantime, you CAN reduce your exposure to forever chemicals.

Here’s how…

  • Ditch your non-stick cookware. Use stainless steel or cast iron instead.
  • Avoid processed foods whenever possible. Fresh is best.
  • Invest in a water filter. Reverse osmosis and activated carbon filters have been shown to filter PFAS out of water.

Do what YOU can to reduce your exposure to forever chemicals. And then demand that your representatives in Washington do what THEY can to hold companies accountable for putting us at risk.

P.S. Researchers recently took a closer look at the effects of a particular PFAS called perfluorooctane sulfonic acid or PFOS. What they found ISN’T good news, especially for your liver. CLICK HERE for the details.
