Cause of “Broken-heart” Deaths REVEALED!?

You’ve undoubtedly heard a heartbreaking story or two about someone quickly passing away from grief after losing their spouse.

Sadly, research confirms these tragic tales are TRUE. In fact, we ALL face an elevated risk of a “broken heart” death after someone close to us dies.

But it turns out dodging death isn’t the ONLY thing we need to worry about after losing a loved one.

If you manage to survive grief, it could still leave you with another potentially permanent problem…

Researchers from the University of Arizona warn that grief can cause substantial damage to your body.

According to their study published in the journal Psychosomatic Medicine, experiencing deep sorrow over someone’s death often causes a SIGNIFICANT rise in blood pressure.

In fact, when the researchers asked study participants to recall their loved ones and focus on their grief, their blood pressure spiked by a stunning 21 points (millimeters of mercury) on average!

And the MORE grief folks felt, the HIGHER their blood pressure rose. Which, of course, also sends your risk of a stroke or heart attack skyrocketing.

If YOU are a surviving spouse or partner, these findings mean it’s critical to make an extra effort to take care of your own health.

  • Consider counseling: Counseling can be found at your church or with a licensed therapist. Find someone who specializes in treating grief. While it’s often hard to reach out to someone at a time like this, it can quite literally save your life.
  • Care for yourself: Self-care is really individual because we all need different things to feel cared for and comforted. It could be allowing some of your commitments to slide for now. Or following through on a checkup with your doctor or dentist. Figure out what it means for you and do it.
  • Eat well: Many people turn to alcohol and junk food when they feel bad. I’m not going to tell you to never indulge. But it’s best to avoid both when you’re battling grief. Instead, try to eat as healthy as possible and use supplements to fill in any dietary gaps.

Surviving and thriving after a loved one’s death is the GREATEST way to honor their memory. So do your best to care for yourself and your heart after their death.
