REMARKABLE Mushroom Benefit REVEALED
Do you remember when variety at the grocery store wasn’t a thing? Well, at least not for MOST of us.
If you wanted coffee and toast for breakfast, it was typically Folgers and Wonder Bread or nothing.
But now, even local grocery stores are brimming with options.
And it’s not just coffee and bread either. You can pick from bunches of different apples, potatoes, and even cauliflower.
Well, that same explosion of variety is FINALLY happening in the world of mushrooms.
And scientists say there’s one part of our body that might reap some BIG rewards as a result.
For years, the only kind of mushrooms you could find in your local grocery store was the “medium” or “brown” button mushroom.
Today, no matter where you shop, you can pick up all sorts of wonderful varieties, including Reishi, Maitake, and Portabella. You might even be lucky enough to have a “mushroom man” at your local farmer’s market.
Mushrooms add delicious “meaty” flavor to almost any dish you make. But the truth is they do SO MUCH more than just deliver zest to your menus.
They can TRANSFORM your health… starting with your brain.
It turns out the mysterious shapes and earthy smells of mushrooms contain a powerful secret…
They conceal a treasure trove of bioactive molecules, including ergothioneine, polysaccharides, terpenoids, peptides, and phenols.
Together these potent nutrients have anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and immune-boosting properties.
And scientists say some of them could help us solve the problem of dementia.
A new meta-analysis published in the journal Nutrients combined the data from 86 different studies to determine how certain mushrooms affect the brain.
The researchers pinpointed FIVE varieties with PROVEN neuroprotective (brain-cell shielding) effects:
- Dictyophora indusiate (bamboo mushrooms)
- Pleurotus ostreatus (oyster mushrooms)
- Flammulina velutipes (enoki mushrooms)
- Cordyceps sinensis(caterpillar fungus)
- Cordyceps militaris (scarlet caterpillarclub fungus)
These fungi protect brain cells by reducing oxidative damage, blocking brain-cell death, and discouraging amyloid plaque (linked to Alzheimer’s) buildup.
But as impressive as that is, I believe we’ve just scratched the surface of the mushroom’s ability to heal and prevent disease.
Oyster and enoki mushrooms are easy to find. But the others I listed above aren’t common supermarket varieties. So if you’re interested in using them for brain protection, you’ll likely have to purchase them dried or as a supplement for now.
But keep in mind studies show that even “ordinary” grocery-store mushrooms contain many of the SAME potent bioactive compounds that make these mushrooms so special.
So I encourage you to add a variety of mushrooms to your meals.
