Breathe Easy with THIS Lung Fix
Health professionals tend to focus on the BIG FOUR diseases: heart disease, cancer, diabetes, and dementia (Alzheimer’s).
There are many good reasons for this, including helping people prevent the most common medical conditions they’re likely to encounter.
But because of all this attention, some doctors and scientists tend to sweep other (equally important) conditions under the rug.
That’s why I was happy to see a new study on lung health.
And, what’s also exciting is that it’s not about a new drug but rather a common nutrient that could keep your lungs in tip-top shape.
Healthy lungs are VITAL for overall good health. After all, breathing is LIFE.
I lost my mother to lung disease, and I currently have a friend on the transplant list because of a rare lung disorder. So, it’s a topic I’m very passionate about.
With the intense summer heat this year, I’ve seen more seniors have breathing issues crop up or have current conditions worsen.
But whether you’re currently battling breathing issues or not, we ALL should learn how to take better care of our lungs.
And new research finds the first step is to ensure you’re getting enough omega-3 fatty acids (found in fish oil) in your diet.
A new study published in the American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine found that taking fish oil could be a fantastic way to maintain lung health.
The researchers looked at over 500,000 people and compared their omega-3 fatty acid levels to how well their lungs functioned. There was a CLEAR association between the amount of omega-3 fatty acids they ate and their lung health.
Taking between 1-2 grams (1,000–2,000 mg) of fish oil was optimal for most people.
But omega-3s aren’t the only way to support healthy lungs.
The following are MORE tips for keeping your lungs in tip-top shape:
Dr. Scott’s Healthy Lung Program:
- Carotenoids and other phytonutrients are great for the lungs and help reduce oxidative damage. Stock up on them by eating plenty of fruits, vegetables, and (my favorite) superfood supplement blends.
- Magnesium is critical for good lung health. Low levels are linked to lower lung function. I typically suggest a supplement of 400–800 milligrams of absorbable magnesium, such as magnesium citrate, magnesium glycinate, or a magnesium amino acid chelate.
Anti-inflammatories can be useful because many lung diseases are inflammatory in nature. One to three grams of omega-3 fatty acids, curcumin, Boswellia, and an anti-inflammatory diet (avoid processed foods, trans fats, and added sugars) can all help squash inflammation so you breathe better.
P.S. DEFEAT deadly lung cancer with THIS spicy secret.
