Down a Daily Mug of Alzheimer's Prevention

I have a foolproof plan for maintaining clear thinking and a steel-trap memory as you age.

Ready to hear it?

Stop plaques and tangles from building up in your brain.

Unfortunately, it’s the perfect example of “Easy to say, but not so easy to do.”

Or, it was until NOW.

Because scientists have discovered a potent tool that may help us do precisely that.

Why don’t you grab a mug of your favorite brew and join me right back here for all the delicious details?

As Alzheimer’s develops, neurofibrillary tangles, or abnormal threads of tau proteins, build up inside your neurons. Meanwhile, beta-amyloid proteins clump together, forming plaques between those neurons.

These plaques and tangles clog up your brain’s nerve conduction superhighway. This prevents brain cells from communicating efficiently.

As Alzheimer’s first takes hold, your short-term memory fades. As the disease progresses, memory loss worsens, and you forget important people and events.

Eventually, even simple tasks, such as knowing how to dress and feed yourself, are lost.

But Italian researchers have uncovered a tasty way to discourage those plaques and tangles from clogging up your brain in the first place.

And that’s coffee. Or espresso, to be more precise.

It’s not a complete surprise since scientists have known for some time that a daily coffee habit can help support brain health as we age.

Potent biochemicals in the brew… caffeine, trigonelline, genistein, and theobromine… are likely responsible for its brain-protecting superpowers.

So, for the new study published in the Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, researchers extracted those powerful molecules and placed them in a dish with brain cells ALREADY covered in tau proteins.

Incredibly, the tangles disappeared right before their eyes.

Now, of course, you aren’t going to start pouring your favorite morning brew into your brain cells. But this study confirms what earlier research has found.

Coffee is one of those rare things that we love that’s ALSO good for us.

A regular coffee habit clearly protects your brain health. But its benefits don’t end there. Earlier studies found it could also reduce the risk of liver disease and certain cancers.

But remember, as with most things, moderation is best. Two to three cups a day is perfect.
