Fear falling? Try THIS Trick!
When you were young, you didn’t give falling a second thought. You raced through life with your feet planted solidly on the ground.
But if you’re like a lot of folks, aging has changed that. You now FEAR falling because it’s a very REAL threat.
With every passing year, taking a tumble becomes a greater risk. Because things like medications, muscle loss, fading senses, and even dehydration… all more common in our senior years… can lead to a fall.
But research has uncovered a simple, powerful solution that could make staying on your own two feet a bit easier.
As a child, a fall meant a skinned knee, a few tears, a kiss from mom to “make it better,” and perhaps a popsicle to soothe our hurt.
But as a senior, a fall can be FAR more serious even leading to a life-altering injury.
For example, nearly every hip fracture (over 95 percent) is caused by a fall, according to the CDC. And they’re a TOP cause of disability, loss of independence, chronic pain, and a lower quality of life.
In fact, there are an estimated 100,000 falls EVERY day among older Americans. Each year, three million seniors are treated for those falls in ERs.
And, tragically, 32,000 die as a result of one.
But research reveals one way you can reduce YOUR chances of ending up on the floor (or in the hospital). And it couldn’t be easier.
Simply swallow some fish oil.
In a study, researchers found one daily gram of EPA and DHA fatty acids was associated with a healthy 10 percent drop in the risk for falls.
And that modest reduction could make a major difference given those three million annual ER visits.
But the true benefit might even be bigger for some of us. The researchers found that folks who had higher omega-3 levels before the study began were even LESS likely to fall.
For them, the odds of falls dropped by 17 percent.
The means the time to start raising your OWN omega-3 levels is NOW.
And remember, along with reducing falls, omega-3s are fantastic for your brain, heart, joint, and metabolic health.
But, as always, be sure to check with your doctor before starting any new supplement.
P.S. Weird trick SLASHES your risk of falls!
