Common Food Additive THREATENS Your Heart
The funny thing about ultra-processed foods is everyone KNOWS they’re BAD for their health. Yet they eat them anyway.
Whether it’s potato chips, donuts, chicken nuggets, or frozen TV meals, these fake foods harm your blood sugar, brain, mood, and more.
Even worse, a steady diet of the junk literally shortens your lifespan.
But now scientists say a hidden ingredient in processed foods is putting our HEARTS directly in their crosshairs…
I regularly warn folks about the harmful effects of ultra-processed foods. These unnatural concoctions send our disease risks soaring and lead to a shorter life expectancy.
Most folks already know that the chemical colors, artificial flavors, and preservatives dumped into them are bad news.
But at the bottom of the ingredients list of the majority of ultra-processed foods is something most folks aren’t familiar with called an emulsifier.
Emulsifiers are used to hold food together, thicken it, improve its texture and taste, and extend its shelf life.
They include celluloses, mono- and diglycerides of fatty acids, modified starches, lecithins, carrageenans (made from seaweed and used to thicken foods), phosphates, gums, and pectins.
Until now, most scientists thought emulsifiers were harmless…
But a new study published in the British Medical Journal found these innocent sounding ingredients can harm your heart.
The researchers found emulsifiers negatively impact the microbiome, the microorganisms that call your gut home. And, as you likely know, what’s bad for your microbiome is bad for your health.
The study found the changes the emulsifiers make to the microbiome increases inflammation, which can eventually damage the heart.
It’s estimated that over half of all industrially processed foods around the world contain at least one emulsifier. So, the more of it you eat the higher the risk to your heart rises.
This is yet another excellent reason to swear off of ultra-processed foods. When you do you are your microbiome AND your heart.
Cook meals from scratch with fresh ingredients whenever possible instead.
And another thing…
