Common Treats DESTROY Your Brain

Sugar consumption in America has reached an all-time high.

Now, you don’t need ME to tell you what regularly indulging in sugary treats can do to your waistline.

But you likely DON’T know the devastating impact they can have on your BRAIN.

So back away from the cookie and step away from that candy bar until you read THIS.

Because chances are you’ll be looking at that sugar filled treat in an entirely different way a few minutes from now.

Eating excess sugar, especially when it leads to obesity, can leave your brain starving and damaged.

In fact, in early experiments scientists at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center uncovered a frightening connection between obesity and neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer’s.

And don’t worry, no humans were harmed in the research that was recently published in the journal PLOS Biology.

Using common fruit flies the researchers demonstrated that a high-sugar diet induces insulin resistance in the brain.

That’s a HUGE problem because high insulin in the brain impairs the organ’s ability to effectively eliminate neuronal waste, sending the risk of neurodegenerative disorders skyrocketing.

We’ve known for a long time that overweight folks are more likely to develop Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s. But before now we never knew WHY.

A decade ago, some thoughtful researchers began to suggest that Alzheimer’s might better be classified as diabetes type III. The new study confirms that blood sugar in the brain CAN be separated from the rest of the body.

That would give us the following diabetes classifications…

  • Diabetes Type I: An autoimmune disease in which the ability to produce insulin is destroyed.
  • Diabetes Type II. The most common form of the disease it occurs when cells start to ignore insulin (so-called insulin resistance).
  • Diabetes Type III: Only occurs in the brain and can develop even if the rest of the body shows normal blood sugar control.

In the new study, researchers found that high sugar and insulin levels in the brain lead to microglial dysfunction.

The microglial cells are the clean-up crew in your brain. They’re responsible for washing away damaging debris to keep your brain cells properly functioning.

But when they don’t work the junk starts to accumulate raising your risk of devastating diseases, like Alzheimer’s.

More research is needed, of course, to fully understand the relationship between sugar and brain diseases.

But this study is yet more evidence that slashing the sugar in your diet is necessary to protect your brain. Better yet, ditch the added sugars altogether.

P.S. Potent pair SLASHES Alzheimer’s plaques.
