Biblical Fruit’s Astonishing Health Benefit REVEALED
Happy Easter! I hope your day is filled with hope, love, renewal, and some delicious Easter treats.
It seems appropriate that I have news to share today about a fruit that holds an important place in the Christian faith.
The pomegranate has both symbolic and decorative significance in the bible.
This ruby-red fruit is featured in both the Old and New Testaments. And some historians believe the “apple” featured in the story of Adam and Eve was more likely a pomegranate.
Jesus is said to have compared the Kingdom of God to a pomegranate seed, pointing out that, though it’s small, it grows into a tree.
And now, research suggests we’re accidentally tossing a VITAL benefit of this bible-featured fruit into the trash.
In a recent animal study published in the journal Nutrients, Italian researchers revealed that an extract made from non-edible parts of the pomegranate could be a powerful tool in the fight against high blood pressure.
We already knew that the edible part of the biblical fruit has numerous health benefits. No surprise since it’s packed with healthy compounds, including tannins, anthocyanins, flavonoids, gallic and ellagic acids, vitamins, terpenes, tocopherols, fatty acids, and sterols.
However, the non-edible peel of the pomegranate—along with seeds left over from the production of jams and juices—is typically considered waste.
But, it turns out that might be a BIG mistake because that so-called “trash” is rich in many of the SAME healthy compounds found in the edible flesh of the fruit.
In fact, when researchers tested extracts made from the whole fruit against those made from pomegranate “waste,” they BOTH reduced heart risks in animals with high blood pressure.
Both pomegranate extracts significantly reduced systolic blood pressure in hypertensive rats.
More research is needed to confirm these findings in humans.
But earlier studies ALREADY show that extracts made from whole pomegranates can naturally drive down blood pressure. So, there’s every reason to believe those made from the discarded parts of the fruit can, too.
Now, you don’t have to wait for that research to be done. Pomegranate extracts are already available and are a drug-free way to support healthy blood pressure.
Plus, when pomegranates are in season, you can tap into the potential of the fruit’s discarded parts by brewing up some homemade pomegranate peel tea.
Simply bring a pot of water to a boil, turn off the heat, add the peels, cover, and steep for about 30 minutes before straining them back out.
Add a dash of honey or pomegranate juice if you like. And feel free to toss in a few seeds for good measure.
P.S. Cutting-edge research reveals that one unique pomegranate compound, in particular, delivers a powerful health boost.
