Detox Your Drinking Water with a Microplastics Purge

We’re surrounded by plastics. They’re everywhere, from the obvious plastic shampoo bottle to the not-so-obvious clothing on our backs.

From the moment we get up in the morning until we slide beneath the sheets at night, we are in contact with them.

Heck, some bedsheets contain plastic fibers, so you may ALSO be exposed while sleeping.

But by far, the MOST disturbing plastic fact is that we’re SWALLOWING them.

Tiny microplastic fragments hide in our food and drinking water. Which means they’re making their way deep inside our bodies with every swallow.

And, as you can imagine, that’s a serious threat.

More research is needed to nail down the precise damage ingesting microplastics is causing. However, research has already linked them to adverse changes in gut bacteria and antibiotic resistance.

It’s going to take some time to resolve, but new research reveals one step you can take NOW to SLASH your exposure.

Earlier studies found polystyrene, polyethylene, and other plastic fragments in tap water. But scientists have figured out a simple way to remove them.

It turns out that simply boiling it and filtering out the junk that floats to the top does the trick.

In fact, the researchers were able to eliminate up to 90 percent of the microplastics, which is incredible.

So, before you chug down your next glass of water, consider boiling and filtering it first. The researchers say something as simple as a stainless-steel mesh strainer used to make tea will do the job.

In the case of hard water, the chalky limescale produced when boiling the water coats the pieces of microplastic and can easily be strained out and tossed.

And although less lime scale is produced by boiling softer water, there’s still enough to remove a significant amount of plastic.

It’s not a perfect solution, but it’s an excellent start. Cutting back on processed foods that come in plastic packaging can also help.

If you want to get even more serious about clearing your water of microplastics, consider investing in a reverse osmosis filter. There’s no need to boil your water when you use one.
