WALK Away from Cancer? Study Says “Yes!”
When you’re battling cancer, the LAST thing you need is more questionable advice.
Yet a parade of well-meaning folks will insist you must do everything from running marathons to moving to a Greek island in order to outsmart the disease.
But what if something as simple as a daily walk could give you the extra edge needed to push back against cancer?
And I’m not talking about some tiny benefit here.
We’re looking at a game-changing discovery that could turn the cancer industry on its head…
The massive study, published in the British Journal of Sports Medicine analyzed data from 2.8 million people. When researchers crunched the numbers, they found something surprising—just 60 minutes of light exercise weekly (less than 10 minutes a day) was linked to a 16 percent reduction in the odds of cancer progression.
That’s right. Just a few extra minutes of light daily movement made a significant difference!
Now, if you’re wondering what counts as low-level exercise, here are a few simple ways to meet your weekly one-hour goal:
- Take an after-dinner walk
- Park further from store entrances
- Do some light gardening
- Take the stairs instead of the elevator (even if just once a day)
- Dance while you’re cooking dinner
- Go for a quick dip in the pool
- Walk the dog an extra block
- Window shop at the mall
- Take a short bike ride
The best part?
You can break these activities up into smaller chunks throughout your day. Five minutes here and ten minutes there eventually add up to build a shield against cancer progression.
And if you’re feeling ambitious, go even further—the same 60 minutes of exercise at a “moderate to high” level (think water aerobics, tennis, weight training, or brisk walking) is associated with a 27 percent lower risk of cancer progression.
But don’t feel like you have to become a gym rat overnight to see real benefits. This is about giving your body a fighting chance if cancer ever does show its ugly face—and every step counts.
