"Invisible" Food Ingredients SABOTAGE Blood Sugar
If you’re trying to keep your blood sugar in check, you know the drill.
Cut way back on sugar in your diet.
While you’re at it, rein in your fat intake too, which can lead to insulin resistance.
And don’t forget the extra calories—they add up fast and can sabotage your blood sugar control.
But it turns out there’s another sneaky saboteur you’d never suspect.
It’s been hiding in plain sight all along…
A disturbing new study published in PLOS Medicine uncovered a concerning link between certain food additives and poor blood sugar control, regardless of a food’s sugar, fat, fiber, or calorie content.
Food additives undergo safety testing before they’re approved for use.
However, this process has a critical gap—they’re typically only tested in isolation.
The new research examines what happens when different additives are combined inside our bodies—and the results are alarming.
Researchers identified two particularly problematic mixes:
- The first dangerous combo contained various emulsifiers such as carrageenan and modified starches, which are commonly found in stocks, creamy desserts, fats, and sauces.
- The second risky mix included artificial sweeteners, colors, and acidifiers—the same blend you’ll find in most diet drinks.
The results suggest certain additive combinations significantly affect blood sugar regulation.
This could explain why some heavily processed foods appear to have metabolic effects beyond their nutritional profiles—regardless of their sugar or calorie content.
In other words, looking beyond the nutrition label is vital when making food choices.
Because while we’ve been avoiding sugar, counting carbs, and watching calories, these additive mixtures have been quietly undermining our metabolic health.
Steering clear of heavily processed foods with their long lists of additives is a good idea for EVERYONE.
But if you happen to be at risk for type 2 diabetes or struggle with blood sugar control, swearing off ultra-processed foods might be just as critical as limiting sugar and carbs.
P.S. This “harmless” additive DESTROYS your brain.
