Alarming Heartburn Side Effect REVEALED

After every meal, millions of Americans pop a pill.

Folks are convinced that proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) such as Prilosec or Nexium are necessary to head off heartburn.

But what these drugs REALLY do is liable to shock you.

To begin with, they block your body from properly digesting your food.

But that’s just the beginning. Because with long-term use, this can cause a cascade of disturbing side effects. (More details on those in a moment.)

And now, new research has uncovered ANOTHER alarming side effect of these heartburn drugs. And in some ways, it may be the worst one yet.

Acid-blocking PPIs have been associated with so many dangerous potential side effects that they’ve been high on my list of drugs to avoid for YEARS now.

The list is long and includes an association with vitamin and mineral deficiencies, fractures, infections, bowel issues, arthritis, and stroke.

Prolonged use of PPIs could increase the risk of chronic kidney disease. They’re even associated with an increased risk of gastric cancer and early death.

More research is needed before we can draw firm conclusions, of course.

But those potential side effects ALONE should be enough to make you want to steer clear. And this latest research ought to convince ANYONE still taking these heartburn meds that it’s time to quit.

Scientists say PPIs could send your dementia risk SOARING.

That’s right, you could be trading in your heartburn for your brain health. And, of course, dementia steals your independence and eventually robs you of everything that makes you… well… YOU.

The truth is, your body NEEDS stomach acid to break down proteins and kickstart the rest of the digestive process. When PPIs put a stop to stomach acid, they’re halting the chain of events that allows you to absorb necessary nutrients from food.

And now, a new study published in the journal Neurology has linked the long-term use (4 or more years) of these acid-blockers to a 30 percent increase in dementia risk.

It’s an unacceptable risk. Especially since there’s so much you can do to stop heartburn WITHOUT resorting to risky heartburn pills.

  • Avoid soda: Carbonated drinks ramp up gas production. When gas bubbles up from your digestive tract, it can carry stomach acid with it, causing heartburn.
  • Stay away from sugar: Like soda, sugary foods cause gas that can trigger heartburn. This includes carbohydrate-heavy foods that act like sugar, such as breads, grains, and starchy vegetables.
  • Take a probiotic: Maintaining a healthy gut microbiome can reduce heartburn. Restore and maintain healthy gut bug levels with a probiotic supplement.
  • DON’T skip the salt: Salt helps keep bad bacteria in check while supporting strong stomach acid… which ironically REDUCES the risk of developing heartburn.

Don’t trade in your indigestion for dementia. Try these natural fixes first.
