Always Tired? THIS is DRAINING Your Energy
Dear Living Well Daily Reader,
These days, it seems the world is just buzzing with energy.
Vaccinated people are socializing again… eating with friends outside… and starting to shake off the loneliness of the pandemic.
So why do you feel so tired?
You find yourself dragging, reaching for more cups of coffee or sugary energy drinks… but still wondering why you can’t just feel awake.
I’m here to tell you there’s a reason for your exhaustion… and your mainstream doctor may have missed it completely.
And once you know what it is, you can SUPERCHARGE your low energy and get your life back.
The secret? Iron.
This essential nutrient is VITAL for keeping pep in your step.
Iron’s main role in your body is the production of red blood cells, which carry oxygen to your cells from your lungs.
And oxygen is key to having high energy levels. Because without it, NONE of your cells can function correctly.
In fact, low iron and oxygen can cause dementia-like symptoms, headaches, shortness of breath, reduced immune function, and weakened muscles.
But here is the thing: most people don’t know if they are low in iron.
And that’s why I recommend you get a blood test if you think you might be low. This is really important if you are male or postmenopausal.
The Recommended Daily Allowance varies depending on your age, whether you’re male or female, or if you are athletic or not. In general, you should get around 8 milligrams a day if you’re a male or postmenopausal.
I always warn people to be careful with the types of iron they choose because most cause constipation and other tummy troubles.
Iron-rich foods are often the best way to go (and they’re tummy-friendly). Here are a few:
- meats (especially red meat)
- beans
- dark leafy greens
- dark chocolate.
Vitamin C also helps the absorption of iron – so make sure you are getting enough.
But the secret is balance. Too much iron can be toxic, so it’s important to make sure you talk to your doctor about supplementing.
P.S. There’s another low-energy trigger to be mindful of… and chances are, your mainstream doc doesn’t know about it. Find out more right here.
