Big Pharma PAYING for Drug Approvals?! (Despicable!)
Big Pharma is at it again.
It’s not enough that they make billions upon trillions of dollars hocking useless and dangerous drugs.
And that they’re not afraid to use that fortune to keep the cash pouring in.
Now, they’ve figured out a sneaky way to new drugs on the market.
And it could RUIN the lives of millions.
“Open public hearings” are now are part of the FDA’s drug approval process.
And they aren’t a bad idea. They allow the public to give testimonies about the drug – both good and bad.
But there’s an issue….
Many of these testimonies are bought and paid for by the pharmaceutical company pushing for the drug’s approval.
And the lengths they will go to do so are downright despicable.
One company – US WorldMeds – wanted approval for an opioid withdrawal drug.
A woman gave a testimony about how her son died of a fentanyl overdose because the withdrawal symptoms prevented him from getting treatment.
The testimony was effective enough to get the drug approved just a few months later. And that’s good news for the countless folks struggling with opioid addiction.
But my issue is that US WorldMeds paid for her travel and accommodations for her to speak positively about their drug to the FDA.
Even worse? They weren’t required to disclose any of this to the approval committee.
If that’s not a conflict of interest… I don’t know what is.
But that’s just the tip of the iceberg.
A recent article published in BMJ Evidence-Based Medicine, shows that of 145 testimonies for 14 different meetings of the Pharmacological Drugs Advisory Committee:
· 40 percent reported a financial conflict of interest,
· 40 percent reported no conflict of interest, and
· 20 percent didn’t say one way or another.
In those with a conflict of interest, 82 percent recommended the drug.
Now, I think there is value in the public having a say in which drugs get approved. But as long as their testimonies aren’t sponsored by Big Pharma.
But it doesn’t look like that will happen anytime.
And that’s why it’s crucial to know what meds you’re taking… and how they can affect your health.

Dear Reader, When I told Jim his blood pressure was dangerously high, he was quick with his reply: “I don’t believe that high blood pressure mumbo jumbo… I feel fine.” After all, Jim came to see me because he thought I didn’t believe in that “mumbo jumbo” either. And honestly, there’s a part of me that doesn’t. Drug companies make billions off...
