[CAUTION] This Drug Could Give You Alzheimer’s!
Dear Living Well Daily Reader,
A lot of times, mainstream medicine can feel like “Do as I say, not as I do.”
Maybe you’ve been told to lose weight by the doctor who could lose a few pounds himself… or told to give up smoking by the guy with the smoker’s cough.
That’s why I do my best to lead by example. I won’t tell you to do anything I don’t already do myself.
And when I tell you to steer clear of THIS drug if possible, I mean it.
Study after study has been piling in revealing just how dangerous they are for your memory… and the latest is no exception.
A new study has shown that this dangerous drug could give you Alzheimer’s!
Here’s everything you need to know.
******
A recent article in the American Journal of Psychiatry found that commonly-prescribed drugs used to treat schizophrenia have a terrible side effect…
They DESTROY cognitive functioning and INCREASE the risk of Alzheimer’s disease.
I’m talking about anticholinergics.
For the study, researchers reviewed the records of over a thousand schizophrenia patients. And they found that 63 percent of these patients could be at risk for cognitive decline… and eventual Alzheimer’s.
You may think you’re off the hook if you’re not living with schizophrenia… but that’s not the case.
Anticholinergics are also prescribed to treat:
- Urinary incontinence,
- Depression,
- Asthma,
- Overactive bladder (OAB),
- Chronic obstructive pulmonary disorder (COPD),
- Parkinson’s disease.
But that’s not all…
Common over the counter drugs like motion sickness pills and antihistamines are also anticholinergics.
And the study found that the more of these drugs you have to take, the higher your chances of developing Alzheimer’s disease.
You see, anticholinergic drugs block the action of a neurotransmitter called acetylcholine.
In the brain, acetylcholine helps process learning and memory, which means that blocking it is the worst thing you could do when it comes to your memory.
Find an integrative doctor who can work with you to keep you off of anticholinergics and find replacements instead. There are many natural supplements that can replace these drugs, but it’s best to work with a physician who can help you transition off of your regular meds safely.
