Common Supplement Could Combat Long COVID

Some folks just can’t kick COVID.

In fact, millions are suffering the long-term aftereffects of the virus, including fatigue, brain fog, and muscle weakness.

And finding solutions for so-called “long COVID” has been challenging.

However, early research reveals a simple supplement could come to the rescue.

Scientists say creatine supplements could be a Godsend for folks battling long COVID.

The nutrient is best known for boosting athletic performance and muscle mass when combined with strength training.

However, there’s ALSO now evidence that creatine may act as an energy booster and neuroprotectant.

A new clinical trial published in the journal Food Science & Nutrition found that creatine supplements may target some of the most troubling long COVID symptoms.

When taking the supplement, volunteers had…

  • significant reductions in general fatigue after three months.
  • measurable improvements in common long COVID symptoms, including loss of taste, breathing difficulties, body aches, headaches, and concentration problems at six months.

Earlier studies provide a clue as to why creatine may work.

Prior research found that COVID-19 infections can cause brief drops in creatine levels. And because of inflammation and problems with how the body uses oxygen, you may need up to 50 percent MORE of the nutrient after an infection.

So, rebuilding lost creatine stores could give tired bodies and minds suffering from long COVID the energy needed to perform at peak levels again.

This was a small study, so we need to see more research completed to confirm these findings, of course.

But this was a randomized, placebo-controlled, double-blind trial (the best kind), and the results are quite encouraging and shouldn’t be ignored.

So, if you’re one of those unlucky folks battling long COVID symptoms, there’s a chance that taking an affordable supplement could help restore your OWN strength and mental clarity.

Between three and five grams of creatine monohydrate powder is considered safe for most folks. Check with your doctor to determine the appropriate dosage in your case.

P.S. Natural DUO could speed COVID recovery, researchers say.
