Could Your TV GIVE You Diabetes!? (Shocking)
Dear Living Well Daily Reader,
I don’t know about you, but I sure am tired of all the doom and gloom on the news… ESPECIALLY after the last year or so.
It’s no wonder that research shows exposing yourself to the negativity of the news day in and day out can give you higher blood pressure, anxiety, and more.
But it’s not just the news that’s giving you trouble.
As strange as it sounds, researchers have discovered that your TV could GIVE you diabetes.
Here’s everything you need to know.
I’m talking about blue light.
You know, the type of artificial light emitted from your tablet, television, computer screen, and smartphone.
It’s been linked to insomnia and memory troubles. And now it looks like it could be driving your blood sugar through the roof, too!
In a new study, researchers from the University of Amsterdam exposed rats to blue light for just one hour a night.
The next day, the rats were given a choice between either a standard diet or a high-sugar diet.
At the end, the scientists found that when the rats were exposed to blue light, they chose the sugary diet.
Even worse? The rats also had altered glucose tolerance, a warning sign of pre-diabetes.
And this was after only one hour of exposure… just imagine what a night of binge-watching could do to you!
Blue light is so dangerous because it hits specific cells in your eyes that convey information to areas of our brains that regulate appetite.
But there are a few ways to protect yourself.
First, try to limit your screen time in the evening hours before bed.
And second, if you can’t avoid screens, try wearing blue-light-blocking glasses when using screens. You can get find these online for about $10.
P.S. It’s no secret that blue light can damage your vision. But did you know that a different type of light could just as easily protect it? Find out more right.
