[COVID-19] Study Reveals Scary New Trait
Remember a while back, when we thought we had put COVID-19 behind us?
Everyone I talk to had their moment when they thought things would change. Some folks thought it was when daily case numbers started to decrease… and others felt it when they had their vaccine.
Meanwhile, in the background, COVID-19 was doing what viruses always do: changing and mutating.
And this latest discovery has made it even more worrisome.
But there’s no reason to panic just yet. See, understanding WHY it’s become more dangerous can actually help us ALL turn the tide.
A recent study in the Journal of Infectious Diseases has found that COVID-19 is evolving to be more airborne.
How could it do this? After all, isn’t it already skilled enough at being transmitted through the air?
The answer? It can now carry larger viral loads.
A viral load is the amount of virus coursing through your body. It stands to reason that the more virus someone has in their body, the more likely it is to spread and pass on to other people, when the carrier coughs, sneezes, or even just breathes.
But in this latest study, researchers found that carriers of the Alpha variant have as much as 43 to 100 times more infectious aerosol particles than the original COVID strain.
And according to one case, those infected with the new variant Omicron could carry a larger viral load as well.
So, what can you do?
If you haven’t yet, talk to your doctor about getting a booster.
Then, continue to wear a mask in crowded areas – especially if you’re at a higher risk. The same study found that a simple face covering can cut transmission of even high viral loads in half.
Finally, work on your general health. Make sure you are getting enough rest, eating well, exercising, and supplementing to make up for missing nutrients. Staying healthy naturally keeps your immune system strong.
