[COVID-19] The CDC Says STOP Doing This!
Dear Living Well Daily Reader,
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), there has been a lot of something called “hygiene theater” going on.
This is when businesses make COVID-19 cleaning routines into a showy production that’s supposed to ease your mind.
For instance, my gym closes every two hours so that they can sanitize all the surfaces. This is honestly not much of an inconvenience (because I’m usually done working out after two hours).
But the problem is, the evidence DOESN’T support this.
Now researchers have discovered that we’ve all been wasting our time when it comes to this one COVID-19 prevention technique.
And it’s a big one.
You probably heard the news that COVID-19 can last on surfaces for a long time.
Heck, I’ve even written about it here .
But now, the science says otherwise.
The CDC recently released guidance that states the risk of getting a COVID-19 infection from contaminated surfaces is extremely low.
In fact, you have less than a 1 in 10,000 chance of getting from contact with a surface… roughly the same as getting struck by lightning!
According to the CDC, cleaning surfaces using soap or detergent is enough to reduce risk in most situations.
But the best thing you can do is continue to wear a mask when possible, even if you’ve been vaccinated.
Breathing infected droplets in the air is still the most dangerous and likely way you’ll contract the virus.
Thankfully, with the warm weather we can enjoy time outside with our loved ones without masks. The CDC found that the risk of COVID infection is almost non-existent outside.
P.S. The pandemic has made us scared of viruses… and for good reason! But did you know it could have this effect on your health as well? Read more right.
