COVID-FREE Vacation Hot Spot FOUND (Wow!)
My wife and I love travel. We met when we were both on the road, so it’s natural that we spent much of our young lives traipsing around the world together.
So you can imagine how trapped we felt when quarantine hit.
But now with the vaccine, you may be like us, and getting back to enjoying the scenery.
Of course, we know COVID is still lurking around.
We haven’t seen the end of this crisis yet, and we really don’t know when we will.
But that’s no reason to cancel your vacation!
Researchers have discovered that this vacation hot spot is safe… and it may be as close as your neighborhood.
I’m talking about swimming pools.
A new study by the Imperial College of London found that COVID-19 is quickly killed by chlorinated water.
In other words, time to break out the bathing suits and sunscreen!
The study team found that COVID-19 can be killed in just 30 seconds in chlorinated pool water, reducing the risk of contracting COVID-19 in a swimming pool to almost nothing.
The team found that the pH of the water mattered too. A lower pH could kill the virus quicker.
These, and other studies, have led to the opening of indoor pools in London and the rest of the world is following suit.
Okay, I’ll admit that getting in a pool is not the same as traveling to see relatives, going to a lake house, or flying to some exotic destination—but it is something.
Recently I read a great book by Bonnie Tsui called Why We Swim. Bonnie thinks we are attracted to water for many reasons, and that swimming is a chance to exercise, be connected to nature, and help us feel calm. I agree.
And if you’re looking for even more excuses to head poolside, another British study found that swimming throughout your life can slash your risk of early death by 28 percent!
So… take you next “vacation” by heading to a local pool. It will do your heart and health good.
