Dangerous Habit INCREASES Sleep Apnea Risk 78%!
If you (or your partner) snore a lot, you already know how miserable the long sleepless nights can be.
But sometimes snoring is more than just a nuisance.
Sometimes it’s a dangerous disorder called sleep apnea. And you may have it if you gasp for air while asleep, wake up with a dry mouth, or even have a morning headache.
Sleep apnea is so dangerous because it goes HIGHLY undiagnosed… and it increases your risk of type 2 diabetes, strokes, heart attacks, cancer.
And now there’s a new risk involved.
Because researchers have discovered that this dangerous habit could INCREASE your sleep apnea risk 78 percent!
Here’s everything you need to know.
A new largescale study from a partnership between Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, and Harvard Medical School (the trifecta of health researchers!) has found that watching too much TV can SKYROCKET your sleep apnea risk.
After gathering data from 137, 917 participants, the researchers found that folks with sedentary jobs were 49 percent more likely to have sleep apnea.
But they also found that people who watched more than four hours of TV a day had a 78 percent higher risk.
Not only does sleep apnea increase the risk for many diseases, but people with the condition are at increased risk for car accidents and have mood swings and problems concentrating.
And it’s no wonder – if you don’t sleep well, you’re going to feel groggy all day long.
The underlying reason for all this dysfunction and disease is chronic low levels of inflammation and insulin resistance, but there’s also one other factor…
Obesity.
If you’re overweight, the cure could be in your hands – sleep apnea is very rare in people with healthy weight.
But don’t worry… you don’t have to COMPLETELY give up your TV habit. Instead, try walking in place while you binge-watch your favorite shows. Or even better, get on the treadmill for an episode or two. This will get your heart rate up and melt away the pounds.
And if you do feel like you may have sleep apnea, make sure you talk to your doctor about getting tested.
