Dementia Caused by THESE Drugs?

Side effects are a strange concept unique to drugs.

You can’t really talk about the side-effects of natural medicines, eating right, or exercising because they don’t really have them.

But drug have unintended consequences that we have learned to simply accept.

These side-effects happen because medications change the way your body functions. And when you stop or alter a natural process, you’re asking for big trouble.

Now a new study confirms shows just how bad those side-effects can be.

Because certain common medications are DESTROYING your brain.

And there’s a good chance you could be taking one (or more) of them.

Anticholinergics (like Benadryl, Cogentin and Detrol) are no strangers to bad press.

This class of drugs — used to treat allergies, depression, Parkinson’s disease and urinary incontinence– has been linked to vision problems, dizziness, and even falls.

But that’s just the tip of the iceberg.

In a new study, published in the British Medical Journal, scientists tracked anticholinergic use and dementia risk 350,000 older adults.

At the end, the researchers that using anticholinergic drugs for just one year increases your risk of developing dementia by a WHOPPING 30%.

That’s nearly a third. Just imagine what that could mean for your future.

Experts report that anticholinergic drugs are so detrimental because they block the normal activity of acetylcholine (a brain chemical called a neurotransmitter) in regions of the brain associated with memory and cognition.

If you have ever taken or are currently taking anticholinergics you might be worried, but know that there is a lot you can do to protect your brain.

Dr. Scott’s Plan to Protect Your Brain:

  • Get out and exercise: Every once and a while. Don’t try and by an Olympian, just get out and move your body a bit.
  • Keep inflammation under control: Try Berberine and Curcumin to keep inflammation in check and stay away from the oils that increase inflammation like corn, soy, and other vegetable oils.
  • Fish oil: Not only does fish oil help support your brain with healthy fats, but it also helps keep inflammation low. Take fish oil every day!
  • Polyphenols: These plant nutrients (including bioflavonoids, flavanols, and polyphenols) are important for our health. They are the reason why coffee, chocolate, and wine help you to avoid disease and live longer lives.
  • Mitochondrial Support or mitochondria are the energy-producing part of your body (and brain). Supplement with CoQ10, alpha lipoic acid, astaxanthin, selenium, and vitamin E to give your brain-energy a boost.
