Does This “Micro Threat” Send You to an Early Grave?!

Dear Living Well Daily Reader,

You may be doing everything right.

You exercise, eat plenty of good proteins and low-starch veggies, make sure you never miss your yearly physicals and always take your doctor’s advice…

But it could all be for naught.

You see, there’s something lurking all around you that may be dragging down your health.

But it’s especially bad if you’re a senior.

Researchers have found that this “micro threat” could send you to an early grave.

I’m talking about a class of synthetic chemicals called phthalates.

Scientists call phthalates “forever chemicals” because they seem to never degrade.

In fact, if you were to take a urine test, everyone reading this article would test positive for phthalates in their urine.

The reason everyone tests positive is that they are found in so many consumer products, from food storage containers, perfume, makeup, shampoo to toys. They even make their way into the food you eat!

And that exposure to phthalates comes at a cost. According to researchers, who published their study in the journal Environmental Pollution, phthalates lead to hundreds of thousands of early deaths each year.

The researchers found that people with HIGHER amounts of phthalates in their blood were at a greater risk of dying younger.

They estimated phthalates account for 91,000 to 107,000 premature deaths per year in America.

The problem with phthalates is they’re tasteless and odorless, so there’s no way to know if you are being exposed to them.

Other studies have shown that phthalates disrupt the endocrine (hormone) system in your body. They have been linked to problems with heart disease, cancer, reproductive health, and a weakened immune system.

You can’t get completely away from phthalates, but you can minimize your exposure in a few ways.

Any step you can take to never drink from a plastic bottle or eat food in a plastic container will help.

If you do have to use plastic to store your food, make sure you never microwave it in the plastic container. Instead, use a microwave-safe plate.

Another place phthalates are hiding in plain sight is cooking oils. These are a major source of phthalates because they are often stored in plastic containers (plus, the oils themselves aren’t great for your health anyways!).

P.S. Ladies, you may be exposed to phthalates more than anyone else. Learn how to protect your health right here.
