“Flip the Switch” to Slash Blood Clot Risk 80%!
The statistics are grim.
Up to 900,000 Americans experience a blood clot (venous thromboembolism) yearly.
Tragically, 60,000 to 100,000 of those folks will die as a result.
As we age, our risk rises, doubling every 10 years after age 40.
But what if preventing these deadly blood clots could be as simple as flipping a switch?
New research suggests that may be the case.
And the best part is this natural approach doesn’t involve any medications…
A groundbreaking study published in the Journal of Thrombosis and Haemostasis reveals how red light could be a powerful weapon against blood clots.
We’ve known for years that light affects our health in countless ways. But this discovery takes our understanding to a whole new level.
The researchers conducted two experiments…
First, they exposed mice to red, blue, or white light. The mice exposed to red light had nearly five times fewer blood clots than those without.
Second, they analyzed data from 10,000 people who underwent cataract surgery. Some patients received lenses that allowed the entire visible light spectrum to pass through, while others got lenses that filtered out specific wavelengths.
The cancer patients in the group with blue-light-filtered lenses (allowing more red light) had a significantly lower risk of blood clots. This is especially critical because cancer patients have nine times the risk of blood clots as non-cancer patients.
The red light was linked to less inflammation and activation of the immune system. The immune cells in the red-light-exposed mice produced fewer neutrophil extracellular traps, which can trap platelets and then form clots.
In addition, the red-light mice had increased fatty acid production, which reduces platelet activation, leading to fewer clots.
The implications of this research are enormous. They mean that something as simple as red light exposure—essentially flipping a switch—could reduce your risk for developing life-threatening conditions like:
- Heart attacks
- Strokes
- Lung clots (pulmonary embolisms)
While more research is needed to understand precisely how red light works its clot-thwarting magic, this discovery opens up exciting possibilities for natural blood clot prevention.
P.S. Sedentary habit increases blood clot risk by 35 percent.
