Forgetful? Check Your Fridge for this MEMORY Thief

Feeling forgetful lately? It could be missing appointments. Or you’re blanking on names.

But no matter WHAT form your memory problems take, one thing’s for sure… they’re frightening.

So, figuring out what’s behind them is priority number one.

But with so many possible triggers, from chronic high blood pressure to lack of exercise, the cause can feel nearly impossible to nail down.

But what if your foggy brain has NOTHING to do with any of those things and everything to do with a common beverage you likely have in your refrigerator right now?

Or, to be more specific, an ingredient in this popular drink?

I’m sure you’ve heard of aspartame before.

It’s an artificial sweetener sold under brand names like NutraSweet and Equal and used in thousands of diet drinks and other low-calorie foods.

But what you’ve likely NOT heard yet is that emerging research reveals a potentially troubling link between this common sugar substitute and cognitive function problems.

A new study published in the journal Scientific Reports found that mice fed aspartame at very low doses (equivalent to one 16-ounce diet soda daily) developed problems with spatial learning and memory.

Now, this was an animal study. And more research needs to be done before we can draw any hard conclusions, of course. But the findings are disturbing.

However, regardless of the outcome, artificial sweeteners are ALREADY on my list of “NEVER eat” food additives for various other reasons.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), aspartame may be linked to a higher risk of diabetes, heart disease, and cancer.

And THAT alone should be reason enough to avoid these fake sugars.

However, the new study uncovered a potential link between aspartame and short-term memory loss, learning impairments, and overall declining brain performance.

And to be honest, I’m not entirely surprised.

After all, earlier studies show that aspartame can increase oxidative stress in the brain, triggering potentially dangerous brain inflammation.

Aspartame can also elevate plasma cortisol levels, creating excess free radicals, which may make the brain more vulnerable to oxidative stress.

Equally disturbing is that some scientists think brain inflammation is one of the primary triggers behind the development of tau proteins, which are linked to Alzheimer’s.

Obviously, you want to keep your memory sharp and your brain firing on all cylinders as you age. So, until we know more, it’s a good idea to take fake sugar OFF the list of things you put IN your body.

P.S. Don’t miss this aspartame ALERT straight from the World Health Organization!
