Halt the Flu with Your Diet (Delicious!)
It’s that time of the year where you’re more prone to get struck down with any number of illnesses — from the common cold to the flu.
And in the age of a pandemic, now is NOT the time to be getting sick.
So regardless if you’re one of those who gets the flu every year, or hardly ever (lucky you!) now is the time to prepare.
Chances are you’ve already stockpiled all of your favorite immune boosters like vitamin C, Echinacea, and elderberry.
But it looks like there’s another great way to STOP the flu before it starts.
In fact, it can SUPERCHARGE your immune system… and even help you lose weight.
And all you have to do is eat more of your favorite foods without spending a dime?
I’m talking about the low-carb, high-fat ketogenic diet.
It’s a great way to get rid of those unwanted pounds and reduce the changes of heart disease, diabetes, and other diseases.
And now we know it might also be the best way to avoid a cold or the flu.
In a recent study, researchers fed mice either a high fat/ low carbohydrate diet or a standard diet and then exposed them to the influenza virus.
Those mice who ate a low carb diet not only didn’t get the flu but those who did get the flu had less severe flu, and more mice survived (the flu can be deadly to mice AND humans).
In blood tests, they found that a low carb diet triggers the release of immune system cells – called Gamma Delta T cells – that coat and protect the lining of your lungs and help remove the virus before it becomes worse.
The researchers also found that the keto diet blocked immune system activators called inflammasomes – which trigger inflammation.
One of the keys to knowing if something is good for you or not is whether it changes many different health parameters.
Changing to a low-carb diet will help your waistline, your brain, your blood sugar control and (now we know) boost your immune system.
And to get started all you have to do is load up on delicious foods like grass-fed beef, coconut oil, leafy greens, avocados, nuts, and cheeses while ditching carbs.
P.S. If you’re looking for ways to boost your immune system and fight off any slew of diseases, then you’ll want to read about nature’s no. 1 immune booster. Go here and read about this all–natural superstar when it comes to revving up your immune system.
