“Invisible Condition” CAUSES Alzheimer’s and Diabetes?!
Dear Reader,
Mainstream medicine treats heart issues, diabetes, Alzheimer’s, and cancer each as separate, different diseases.
That makes sense…
Or does it?
See, when you look down at the root cause of all those diseases, you find one culprit: poor blood sugar control.
Even worse, up to a THIRD of those of you who are reading this may have problems controlling their blood sugar AND not even know it!
And it all boils down to this “invisible condition” that has your blood sugar inching upward… sending your risk for all of these diseases SKYROCKETING.
But you can get control of your blood sugar (and reduce the risk of Alzheimer’s, diabetes, heart issues, cancers…).
Here’s how:
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, almost 90 million Americans (that’s one in three of us) have prediabetes.
The worst part about it? Most people don’t know their blood sugar is creeping higher and higher.
Prediabetes is a serious health condition where your blood sugars are rising, but not high enough to be diabetic.
You’re more likely to be prediabetic if you are over 45 years old, overweight, have a family member with type 2 diabetes, don’t get the right nutrition, or are not very physically active.
So what do you need to do? Find out if you are prediabetic.
The best (and easiest) test to determine if you’re prediabetic is the hemoglobin A1C test.
- An A1C level below 5.7% is considered normal.
- An A1C level between 5.7% and 6.4% is considered prediabetes.
- An A1C level of 6.5% or higher on two separate tests indicates type 2 diabetes.
Your fasting blood sugar is another common test that can also suggest if you are prediabetic. Your doc will be looking for a number between 100 and 125 milligrams per deciliter.
I personally like to see blood sugars under 90.
The unfortunate news about prediabetes is from a new study which finds that most people with prediabetes will eventually go on to get full-blown diabetes (type 2 diabetes).
And diabetes is what really skyrockets those diseases I mentioned earlier… along with a host of other conditions you don’t want to sign up for!
So, regardless, it’s a good idea to control your blood sugar as best you can.
Now the question is: how do you prevent prediabetes?
I prefer people go on a no–carb or very–low–carb diet to keep sugars and foods that act like sugar out of your body.
If that’s too much for you, choose foods that are lower on the glycemic index (that means reducing foods such as bread, pasta and anything with sugar in it). If you drink soda, you’ll want to eliminate that as well.
Try taking the stairs, walk to your errands, stand during television commercials… find something fun that will get you moving and stick with it. Exercise has long proven to help control blood sugar.
