Is Your Brain the Answer to IBS? [Incredible!]

Dear Reader,

Ask a mainstream doctor what to do about Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) and they will shrug their shoulders.

What’s worse, some mainstream docs don’t even think IBS is a real condition! And then there are others that hand you pills that are LOADED with extensive side effects.

Well, let me tell you, IBS is an actual condition and there IS a solution that has NO side effects. And it is more effective than anything else.

A new study, published in the mouthful of a journal, Neurogastroenterology & Motility, enrolled 53 women and 15 men with irritable bowel syndrome to partake in an 8-week mindfulness-based stress reduction class.

The results were outstanding.

Most participants experienced significant improvement after three months of mindfulness. Even better? Their symptoms, quality of life, and anxiety (related to gastrointestinal syndrome) all dropped.

Mindfulness is the act of staying in the present time. It’s not thinking of the past or the future.

But what mindfulness really does is reduce stress.

The reason mindfulness and stress reduction works is because one of the most powerful nerves in the body (the vagus nerve) has a direct route from your brain to your stomach. The vagus nerve is why you feel nervousness in your stomach.

Some scientists even call your stomach your “second brain” – because your brain and digestive system are so connected.

Don’t misunderstand me here, I’m NOT saying that IBS is just in your head.

It is a real condition with real outcomes for your health and longevity. AND, working on stress reduction has been shown to greatly reduce the symptoms.

So, does that mean you have to join a mindfulness class? Not necessarily: prayer or other relaxation techniques should work just as well.

You can also help your IBS by eating a low-sugar diet, avoiding gluten, getting enough exercise, and making sure you get a good night’s sleep.

P.S. If you struggle with stomach problems like IBS, you’ll want to go here and read about the “food tricks” that can stop IBS in its tracks.
