Is Your Prescription WRONG?

Dear Reader,

You make an appointment at your doctor’s office (which, let’s be honest, is no small feat in an Era of Infection).

You pass the temperature and the pandemic questions with flying colors.

You brave the waiting area, where any number of people might be infected and breathing viruses into the air…

Everything inside the exam room goes as planned. But there’s something all-too-common that could be happening when you leave – something you don’t expect. Especially if you’re older.

In the exam room you tell your mainstream doc about all your problems. He begins writing any number of prescription orders.

The scary part about this

There’s a good chance one of these prescriptions is WRONG.

See, odds are, if you’re getting older, you’re taking at least one prescription (if not more) that you DON’T NEED

And the more pills you takethe higher the chance that you are getting the wrong prescription.

A new study, published in the Journal of the American Geriatrics Society, found that one-third of Americans are taking medication they shouldn’t be using

That means doctors are getting it wrong 33 percent of the time

These are not good odds!

This is no small thing because the study found that inappropriate medications increase your chance of hospitalization (not to mention the side-effects – which are worse in older adults).

The study surveyed over 218 million older adultprescriptions and found that 34 percent had been prescribed at least one unsuitable drug…

Older Americans, the study authors noted, take twice as many medications as their younger counterparts.

The most common overprescribed drugs are: antidepressants, barbiturates, androgens, estrogens, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, antihistamines, and anti-psychotics.

And most of these have GREAT natural alternatives that you can take. So before getting yet another prescription, check and see if there’s a natural, safe alternative instead.

P.S. I’ve been asked many times: “Should I stop taking my prescriptions?” Well, you know by now that I’m an advocate for natural solutions to your health problems. But my answer to this might surprise you… go here for my thoughts and insight. (Note: never stop taking a medication without consulting your doctor).
