“Light Trick” PREVENTS Vision Loss
Dear Reader,
Let’s be honest, losing your eyesight isn’t just an inconvenience… sure, it can mean having trouble reading signs and labels, focusing on small details… but it can even cost you your ability to drive.
In short – it’s like waving goodbye to your independence.
Losing your vision is downright heartbreaking. Even worse? If you go to your mainstream doctor about it, he’ll probably tell you that poor vision is just a NORMAL part of aging.
But what if I told you that’s not true.
Because the reality is, your eyes are just like the rest of your body: they need certain nutrients to thrive.
But your eyes need more than just vitamins, minerals, and phytonutrients…
Instead, you need this “light trick” solution that can keep your vision sharp.
So how can you put the brakes on vision loss?
I know this may sound strange, but chances are your eyes aren’t getting enough light exposure – especially the kind of light they need.
Yes, you read that right.
You see, ever since we built the first house, humans have spent more and more time indoors. And living inside has both good and bad effects – and it’s our eyes that are paying the price.
Because the downside or staying inside means you’re getting less and LESS exposure to fresh air and healthy sunlight.
Let me explain…
When you turn 40 years old, the cells in your eyes began to age. Having aging cells in your eyes means loss of night vision and acuity (ability to read at a distance).
Part of the reason the cells start aging is because to loss of mitochondria (those tiny cells that produce energy inside our cells).
Scientists have discovered those mitochondria need light to function at their best. Now, it may seem strange to think that your eyes need light to survive, but they do!
A new study, published in the Journals of Gerontology, discovered that staring at deep red light for three minutes a day can significantly improve declining eyesight.
In the study, 24 people were asked to stare at a red light for 3 minutes every day.
The researchers found that a specific red-light wavelength (670 nanometers) improved cone color contrast sensitivity (which is the ability to detect colors) up to 20 percent.
It also improved rod sensitivity (the ability to see in low light).
The researchers suggest that deep red light of that specific wavelength is absorbed by mitochondria in the retina and that supplies energy for their cellular function and improved eyesight.
Stay tuned for red lights that you can buy and use at home, but for now consider the following.
Dr. Scott’s Vision Improvement Regimen:
- Vitamin A: This vitamin is crucial for vision and eye health. It is an essential component of rhodopsin–a protein that absorbs light in the retina. It also is vital for the health of the cornea and conjunctival membranes.
- Omega-3 Fatty Acids: DHA found in fish oil is an Omega-3 fatty acid. The photoreceptors in the retina are made up of 50% DHA. I suggest you supplement with one to three grams of fish oil a day.
- Berries: I’m a big fan of berries. They contain many powerful antioxidant compounds. Berries are high in essential vitamins and flavonoids that your eyes need. Studies have shown that blueberries may help with night vision, but so do bilberries and Maqui berries.
- Lutein and Zeaxanthin: These carotenoids are found in colorful fruits and vegetables and help the macula determine color vision.
