LOWER Your Cancer Risk 45% with This Wonder Food
Dear Living Well Daily Reader,
Avoiding cancer can feel as elusive as winning the lottery.
With almost two million Americans being diagnosed with the disease last year alone, the odds are certainly stacked against you.
But that doesn’t have to be the case.
An exciting new study has found that this wonder food can lower your risk of cancer by a whopping 45 percent…
And it takes less than one serving a day!

Twenty-five years ago, when I first started practicing medicine, I used medical mushrooms to help treat my cancer patients. These mushrooms have over 400 clinical studies to back up their use for boosting your immune system and fighting cancer.
And the research hasn’t stopped.
In fact, a new study from Pennsylvania State University research found that eating just 18g of mushrooms a day could lower the risk of cancer by 45 percent compared to people who don’t eat mushrooms.
To put it into perspective, 18g of mushrooms is only 1/8th of a cup!
In the study, researchers examined the nutritional makeup of a variety of mushrooms, including the common white button and cremini mushrooms, as well as the more exotic king oyster and maitake varieties.
And they found that it didn’t matter what type the participants ate— mushrooms overall had the ability to lower cancer risk.
The researchers believe that this is thanks to an amino acid found in mushrooms called ergothioneine. Ergothioneine is a unique and potent antioxidant and cell-protector which triggers the immune system to attack cancer cells.
The best mushrooms for antioxidant power are:
- Chaga,
- cordyceps,
- lion’s mane,
- reishi,
- maitake,
- turkey tail,
- shiitake.
These mushrooms used to be hard to find, but now most grocery stores carry them.
But the key takeaway is that any mushroom is healthy… and it’s a lot easier to get the benefits than you think.
You can put them on salads or chop them finely and toss them into spaghetti sauce, chili, or anything else you are eating. They disappear into most dishes and give you the health benefits without distracting from the flavor.
