Mailbag! Diabetics: Try THIS for Tingling Hands and Feet!

I suffer from peripheral neuropathy, and I know there aren’t any cures out there, but I was wondering if you had any tips or tricks for dealing with it?

Richard,

Around 20 million Americans suffer from some sort of peripheral neuropathy.

Most folks who suffer from it are diabetic… out-of-control blood sugar often leads to poor blood flow.

And as I’m sure you know, this lack of blood flow robs the nerves in your body of much-needed oxygen and nutrients.

This means when nerves don’t get the nutrients they need, they stop working well. That’s why you probably deal with annoying numbness, tingling, and pain.

So, the best way to tackle your symptoms is to get to the root cause.

Improving your blood sugar will help nourish your nerves by giving them the nutrients they need… and soon, you’ll be feeling better.

Here’s how to get started.

Dr. Scott’s Peripheral Neuropathy Plan:

  • Control your blood sugar naturally. If you have a hard time balancing your blood sugar, turn to the herbal extract berberine and the mineral chromium. These both do wonders to tame high blood sugar.
  • Alpha-lipoic acid (ALA). This master super-antioxidant helps support and protect healthy nerves. It works so well because it helps regenerate other antioxidants, including vitamin C, vitamin E, glutathione, and CoQ10. Take 300–1,200 milligrams daily.
  • CoQ10 (Coenzyme Q10). This antioxidant is found throughout our bodies and is used for energy production and antioxidant protection. CoQ10 has been shown to lower inflammation and power mitochondria – the energy source for all your cells.
  • Fish oil. Both the docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) and eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) found in fish oil have anti-inflammatory effects. On top of that, there are many studies that show each can help peripheral neuropathy. I recommend between 1,000 to 3,000 milligrams a day.
  • B Vitamins. Everything your nerves do requires B vitamins. I suggest people take a B-complex in order to get all of them.
  • Exercise. Don’t try and be an Olympian, just get out and move your body a bit.
