MAILBAG: Move MORE to Ease Aching Joints
“I’ve watched my wife really start to slow down this past year. She’s always been active, but I wonder if her arthritis is making her not move as much. What can I do for her?”
– Harry from Arlington, Texas

Hi Harry,
Arthritis is the number one cause of disability in the world.
And it’s no surprise that folks who battle this condition often fall into the trap of moving LESS to avoid triggering pain in their aching joints.
The trouble is, not moving your body enough can backfire. Being sedentary can lead to muscle loss, balance issues, and, ironically, MORE pain.
And, of course, the drugs that ease the pain are often addictive, harmful to your liver, and eventually stop working.
But there are some drug-free tricks that can help ease arthritis pain:
- Feed the joints: Make sure your joints have the basic building blocks they need to thrive. Collagen, eggshell membrane, and vitamin C are great sources of nutrients your joints need. You’ll find plenty of products to choose from online or in stores where supplements are sold.
- Stop Inflammation: Vegetable oils, processed foods, and sugar all trigger inflammation. Avoid all three to reduce inflammation and the pain that goes with it. And consider taking a natural anti-inflammatory such as fish oil, curcumin, or Boswellia.
- Focus on fish: Eat a serving of cold-water fatty fish such as salmon, tuna, or sardines at least twice a week. Fish is rich in joint-soothing omega-3s.
- Exercise MORE: The muscles and other supporting tissues around joints become stronger when you exercise. This allows them to better support your joints leading to less pain. Choose a light-impact activity such as walking, water exercise, or swimming.
P.S. For even more pain relief, add more of THIS inflammation-busting superfood to your diet.
