Mailbag: You CAN Avoid Diabetes Medications (Here’s How...)

I’ve recently been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. My doctor mentioned that I might need to start taking medication.

Is there anything else I can do to manage my sugars before taking drugs?”

– Nick

Hi Nick,

I’ve got good news! Type 2 diabetes is highly preventable and reversible with some extra effort on your part.

I often explain to my own patients who are battling blood sugar problems that a combination of diet, exercise, and supplements can significantly improve their condition.

In fact, monitoring your blood sugar and observing how these lifestyle factors affect it can be very informative AND empowering.

Following are some things I’ve recommended to my patients to help with regulating blood sugar to avoid diabetes medications:

  • Optimize Your Diet: Dramatically reduce your sugar intake by eliminating sodas and sweets. Ditch empty carbs (which convert to sugar) and focus on a diet rich in proteins and vegetables to better regulate blood sugar levels.
  • Get Active: Find easy ways to integrate exercise into your daily life, such as taking the stairs, walking to run errands, or marching during TV commercials. Choose activities you enjoy to make exercise a sustainable habit. Regular physical activity effectively helps control blood sugar.
  • Manage Your Weight: Maintaining a healthy weight is crucial for managing diabetes. Controlling blood sugar, reducing inflammation, and boosting metabolism can all contribute to weight loss.
  • Cinnamon: Concentrated cinnamon supplements are a potent and affordable tool for combating high blood sugar. Cinnamon has a long history of use in managing diabetes.
  • Turmeric: This golden-yellow spice has natural anti-diabetic, anti-cancer, and anti-inflammatory properties. Turmeric helps reduce insulin resistance, allowing glucose to enter cells more effectively. Incorporate turmeric into your diet, or take it as a supplement.
  • Olive Leaf Extract: This herb can help keep blood sugar under control and is a valuable addition to a diabetes management plan.

Reversing diabetes is possible in many cases. These straightforward lifestyle changes can help.

P.S. Still need a little extra support? This potent NATURAL trio reigns in rising blood sugar.
