Make Your Body Flu-Proof! No Shots Required

Dear Living Well Daily Reader,

It’s not flu season… yet.

But as soon as kids start heading back to school and those cold winds start blowing, the flu bug will be making its rounds.

Those “Get Your Flu Shot” campaigns are another hint flu season is on its way…

I’m not sure I can think of anything as worthless as a flu shot.

Flu shots don’t work AND they can be dangerous to your health. Why would you bother?

Especially when I’m about to show you how easy it can be to stop the flu WITHOUT a shot… and keep yourself healthy all year round.

Scientists have known for a for a long time that your immune system and gut connected.

If you have a healthy gut you have a healthy immune system that can fight off any flu that comes your way.

It is really that simple.

To know why your gut and immune system are so linked, you have to understand that 70-80 percent of all immune tissues are found surrounding the gut.

The immune system surrounds the digestive tract because your gut is the most likely place for a foreign invader to enter your body.

Knowing this about immune system, a group of researchers from the Washington University School of Medicine decided to find out what role the microbiome (the community of bacteria that live in our gut) might play in immunity.

They found that your gut bacteria is able to take natural plant nutrients (called flavonoids) found in veggies, berries, chocolate and tea and turn them into powerful immune boosting compounds called interferon.

So getting more flavonoids builds more interferon – and interferon can stop flu. It’s that easy.

And this isn’t the first study to show that our friendly bacteria improve our health. Other studies show healthy gut bacteria help with depression, thyroid imbalances, arthritis, irritable bowel syndrome, chronic fatigue, joint pain, psoriasis, and more.

The great news about this is that combining flavonoids and good bacteria should work when you already have a cold or flu, too.

So, instead of reaching for Nyquil this fall, think about getting a good source of probiotics and flavonoids.

You can incorporate more fruits and veggies into your diet… or you can pick up flavonoid supplements online for about $20 a month.

Health and Happiness,
