"Mediterranean Miracle" Fights Obesity and Diabetes
Obesity and diabetes rates continue to soar, but researchers may have discovered a solution to help with both in the most unlikely place.
Research reveals that a staple of Mediterranean cuisine could be the key to naturally losing weight and improving blood sugar control.
A groundbreaking study using this extraordinary extract has yielded some astonishing results… results that even rival those of prescription diabetes medications.
A recent animal study revealed that elenolic acid, a natural compound found in olives, can trigger weight loss and lower blood sugar.
When researchers began giving obese diabetic mice the extract within just ONE WEEK, the rodents that received elonolic acid weighed significantly less and had far better blood sugar control than those on the placebo.
In fact, the glucose-lowering effect of elenolic acid was comparable to that of liraglutide, an injectable diabetes medication. Even more impressive, it surpassed that of metformin, one of the most widely prescribed oral medications for type 2 diabetes.
The compound acts on specialized cells in the gut known as L-cells. These cells produce two crucial metabolic hormones: GLP-1 and PYY.
When released during a meal, these hormones work in tandem to promote fullness, prevent overeating, and help regulate blood sugar and metabolism.
The new research suggests that elenolic acid has the potential to offer a natural approach to managing appetite, weight, and blood sugar—a trifecta of benefits for anyone struggling with obesity and diabetes.
More research is needed, of course. But the results are so promising that there’s no reason to not give elenolic acid a try yourself, especially if you’re fighting obesity or diabetes.
However, the concentration of elenolic acid in olive oil and olives is relatively low. So, to get the biggest benefits, you should also consider taking a supplement.
Combined with a diet focused on healthy proteins and vegetables and regular exercise, you can expect to lose weight, gain more control over your blood sugar, and perhaps even cut back on your diabetes medications (with your doctor’s approval).
Other blood-sugar-supporting supplements to consider include cinnamon, turmeric, and olive leaf extract.
And another thing…
