Memory Loss: An Odd Early Warning Sign?

The human body is a marvel. Not a week goes by, that it doesn’t surprise me.

And this one is no exception.

New research reveals what may be the oddest early warning sign for memory loss we’ve seen yet.

It’s like having a crystal ball to help you head off cognitive decline.

And THIS time, it’s in the bedroom—of all places.

Wouldn’t it be fantastic if you could see into your future so you could head off health problems BEFORE they take over your life?

Well, it turns out you CAN. At least when it comes to cognitive decline.

It’s your sexual satisfaction score (we’ll call it your SSS).

A new study published in the journal Gerontologist found that CHANGES in SSS were a good predictor of future memory decline.

The researchers followed 818 men (aged 56–68) for 12 years and found that declines in their scores were predictive of whether they’d have cognitive decline in the future.

Erectile problems, specifically, are already associated with heart disease and dementia. But this is the first time sexual satisfaction has been used as a marker for future health.

Most research of this type has focused on the number of times someone has sex but not on how they perceive that activity.

You and your peer could be spending the same amount of time in the sack with a spouse or partner yet your satisfaction levels over those encounters could be completely different.

If your bedroom sessions have become a bit boring, regular exercise and a healthier diet are excellent ways to begin turning things around. Both can improve brain AND sexual health.

And that means they can help head off cognitive decline.

But don’t stop there. You can take other steps to support a healthy, happy brain:

  • Try berberine to keep inflammation in check.
  • Steer clear of inflammation-triggering vegetable oils, including corn and soy.
  • Try brain-friendly herbs. Curcumin and bacopa decrease inflammation and act as powerful antioxidants.
  • Improve cognition and memory and support energy production with the amino acid creatine.
  • Eat more fatty fish or take a fish oil supplement. Omega-3 fatty acids support brain function and protect against oxidation. Studies find they could reduce the risk of cognitive decline.
  • Top up your folate level, which supports healthy nerve signaling in the brain, affecting thinking and memory. Low folate levels are linked to cognitive decline.
