The reason has to do with modern to go coffee cups which are NOT paper at all. But instead they are paper covered in a plastic.
Manufacturers produce around 264 billion paper cups last year so you can drink your hot chocolate, coffee, tea and even your soup.
The research team poured hot water into those coffee cups and waited 15 minutes. They then measured the amount of plastic in the cup and how much of the cup’s plastic coating degraded.
They were shocked at the results
Your average coffee cup releases 25,000 micron–sized particles into your beverage.
How big is a micron? It is one twenty-five thousandth of an inch. These microplastics are so small they are invisible to the naked eye, but your body knows they’re there because they create a TOXIC stew inside you that has to be detoxified and eliminated.
If you drink two to four cups of coffee a day that somewhere between 50 and 100,000 tiny pieces of plastic going into your body every single day.
Microplastics contain contaminants like heavy metal toxins like palladium, chromium, cadmium and a whole host of other chemical compounds.
Not to mention, some cups are lined with wax. Wax is a petroleum product you also want to stay far away from.
