NEVER Eat After 6 PM! (Here’s Why…)

When my brother and his family came to Thanksgiving dinner, they were a bit shocked by how early we eat at my house.

Generally, we’re cooking dinner around 4:00 PM.

We’ve always eaten this early because eating within an 8 to 12-hour window has major health benefits like weight loss and better blood sugar.

Now it looks like there’s another good reason to eat an early dinner.

Because research shows that this healthy habit can lower your risk of another dangerous disease.

Here’s everything you need to know.

It is not just WHAT you eat that raises your risk for heart disease, it’s WHEN you eat – according to a recent study out of Columbia University.

The researchers in the study recruited 112 women and followed them for over a year. Volunteers kept track of their diet and mealtimes.

The results of the study show that eating after 6:00 PM can lead to heart disease!  

You see, the women who ate later consumed more food, had higher blood pressure, weighed more, and had worse blood sugar control – all from eating after 6:00 pm.

And this happens because your metabolism works better in the earlier hours of the day.

This study was too short to see the implications of higher blood pressure, bad blood sugar control, and excess weight – but the researchers suggest that the later-eaters would eventually develop heart disease, stroke, and diabetes.

Eating late is bad for men, too.

Another study by Harvard researchers found that men who regularly had a midnight snack had a 55 percent increased risk of coronary heart disease.

Other studies show eating late keeps your blood pressure high.

Blood pressure typically drops about 10 percent before you fall asleep – so eating late increases your blood pressure and keeps you up at night.

Altogether, it is a good idea to put down your forks and spoons by 6 PM every day.
