A new study has found that non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) like acetaminophen, ibuprofen, and more could be wearing down your joints.
Researchers analyzed 2,003 patients with arthritis who used NSAIDs by gathering data from a long-term study, the Osteoarthritis Initiative (OAI).
They found that the patients who used NSAIDs had a much narrower medial minimum joint space. One of the main problems of osteoarthritis is that you lose cartilage, causing your bones to rub together. And it turns out, NSAIDs make this condition WORSE by narrowing the space between your joints.
And other studies have even shown that NSAIDs can block the synthesis of cartilage matrix – which you need to maintain your joint’s health.
This is especially important for people who take NSAIDs for other reasons like back pain or bursitis, because taking these drugs can actually give you arthritis.
If you have arthritis and want to address the underlying cause of the disease (inflammation and loss of cartilage), let me show you how to do it.
Dr. Scott’s Arthritis Protocol:
- Glucosamine is a normal component of cartilage and kind of acts like an oil (smoothing the joints for movement). You can take glucosamine as a supplement at around 1500 milligrams a day.
- Chondroitin is very similar to glucosamine – a building block of cartilage. Many studies show chondroitin helps reduce joint pain and stiffness in people with osteoarthritis. Take about 400 to 800 milligrams two to three times a day for the best benefits.
- SAMe or S-adenosyl-L-methionine is an amino acid people use for conditions like depression and osteoarthritis. SAMe is essential for repairing cartilage. People usually take 200 to 400 milligrams three times a day.
- Turmeric is well known to reduce inflammation it is an active ingredient called curcumin has been used for hundreds of years for inflammation.
- Boswellia (also known as Indian frankincense) has been used for thousands of years to reduce inflammation. Recent studies show that it has anti-inflammatory effects and reduces pain in people with joint pain.
